Lifeline to business
Our out of the office sales reps were tied into the system via a
mobile communications protocol that allowed them to forward
voicemail to our office phone system. In other words, incoming
cellular voicemail was connected to our landline system. The
company representative told us that we could also use this
protocol to receive incoming and place outgoing calls. While
this didn't allow our customers to reach us as the numbers were
different, it did allow us to reach them. We were still able to
work from our desks, and, because we weren't receiving a high
volume of incoming calls from customers, we were able to catch
up on a backlog of work. I was surprised at the capability of
our phone system to still allow us to still function, albeit in
a diminished capacity, while the repairs were made. I'm grateful
for not only having a quality business phone system, but also
for having purchased it from a professional who was able to help
us when our phone service provider was not. Phone service is
something I had taken for granted, but not any longer.
