Marketing Basic - Cafe Press
Email Marketing: Let people know you have a shop!
Let your visitors know that you have a new shop on your website.
Send an email promoting the launch of your new shop. Thereafter,
send an email periodically to let your visitors know about new
products and promotions in your shop.
Make sure you follow the basic rules of email marketing. Here
are some email marketing best practices:
Permission - Please send out emails only to those who
have requested information from you. Unsolicited emails or SPAM
is a great way to annoy your target visitors and risk losing
them.
Start building your email list with CafePress.com's List
Builder, which is an opt-in box for your visitors to subscribe
to hear from you. It's a great way to start building your list
quickly.
Over communicate - Do not to send emails more than once
a week, preferably twice a month. If you over communicate, it
will annoy your target visitors and your email messages will
become ineffective.
Opt-out - In your email, make it easy for your target
visitors to opt-out. Include a link in the text of your email so
it's visible and easy to find.
Online Newsletter: Timely, relevant communication
A newsletter is a great way to communicate with your visitors.
Keep in mind that a newsletter is a way for you to update your
visitors on your website and community so it is important that
you keep the information timely and relevant. A newsletter
should not primarily be used as a sales vehicle. Instead, place
buttons on the side of your newsletter promoting your store, or
spotlight your shop and products at the bottom of your
newsletter.
*Be sure to follow the email marketing best practices under the
email marketing section above.

Website Marketing: Promote, Promote, Promote on your
website!
Make sure your shop link is visible on your website. One of the
biggest mistakes people make is to heavily promote a shop but
the shop link is so hidden that most prospect customers cannot
find the shop. Not only should a shop link be included on a
website, but banners or special buttons should be created so
your visitors will be enticed to visit your shop. Learn more on
how to promote your shop.
Search Engine Optimization: Drive new customers to your
shop!
Improve your listing on search engines by updating your
keywords! Keywords are very important for getting your shop to
show up in search engine results. By strategically selecting the
correct keywords for each of your shops, you can improve your
shop traffic as well as bring in targeted customers. Once you
update your keywords, it can take up to 30-60 days for all the
search engines to reflect the changes. So it's a good idea to
add keywords to your shop as soon as possible!
You can easily make your shop searchable by going to your "Shop
Info" page and entering the correct Keywords/phases, Titles and
Meta-Tag Descriptions to your shop.
Just as important as getting your shop to show up in search
engines is getting your products to show up as well. To ensure
your products will show up, enter descriptive Product
Names/Captions and Product Descriptions for each of your
products. By using a combination of keywords in the Product Name
and Description will better the chances of having your product
show up in a search. Learn more about Search Engine Optimization

Offline Marketing: Offline to online
There are many ways to drive your offline visitors online. Start
now. Promote your shop by providing your shop URL to all your
offline marketing activities. If you send out an offline
newsletter, include your shop URL. If you have an event, include
your shop URL on fliers and wear your merchandise on the day of
the event.
