Which website Language?
There are several to choose from. Give this stage some time to
understand the pro's and cons of each of these languages before
you make your decision. Given below are a few languages and
their capabilities which will help you understand and assess
your requirement.
HTML or Hypertext Markup Language
This is easily the most popular web design language available.
HTML is simple to use and has very simple syntax that can be
typed into a text editor to have a web site instantly. HTML will
help you create simple web pages. But, if you are looking at
something more dynamic and impressive, you need to look at the
other options also.
PHP or Hypertext Preprocessor
Popularly known as PHP, this language is a server-side scripting
language which can be embedded directly into HTML syntax.
PHP is capable of doing all that CGI or Common Gateway Interface
does. It can process forms and automatically generate dynamic
content. Supported on most operating systems and web servers,
PHP focuses on development for the web, making it a quick
solution to many of the web's complicated scenarios in
comparison to most other web design languages today.
Cold-Fusion
Macromedia's Cold-Fusion is a tool to build web pages. It
consists of Cold-Fusion studio used to create web pages and
Cold-Fusion Server, used to display the web pages. The best
feature of Cold-Fusion is its ability to create web pages
instantly from content stored in a database. Cold-Fusion is
expensive and best suited to larger companies than individuals.
JSP or Java Server Pages
JSP or Java Server Pages from Sun systems is a web design
language used to control web page content using servlets.
Servlets are small programs running on a web server. The
function of these servlets is to modify the web page prior to
displaying it on a browser. The JSP technology facilitates
combination of regular or static HTML with dynamic HTML.
ASP or Active Server Pages
ASP or Active Server Pages by Microsoft is a web design language
that contains scripts in addition to the HTML tags. These
scripts are processed before the web page is displayed in
browser. The main advantage of ASP is that it is
language-independent and it can be used across all platforms.
Inference
Making a decision on the web design language seems to be a
little difficult. The choice entirely depends upon your needs
and future plans and of course the limit of your investment.
