Search Engine Optimization Keyword Density

A large part of search engine optimization is getting several targeted keywords or phrases into the top positions on search engines. To do this you have to specifically adapt your site to fit these words or phrases in without your average visitor noticing the difference. The first place you should start is your content, once you've optimized and placed as many keywords into it as possible you can still do more. Place keyword headers into h1 and h2 tags accordingly for maximum effectiveness. It is also proven that bold and italicized text has a small effect on keyword text & density. Besides your content there is a variety of places you can place your keywords.

a href="www.linkhere.com" title="Your SEO link keyword text goes here"
img src="www.linkhere.com/image.gif" alt="Your SEO image keyword text goes here"
The first html snippet outputs a simple link but when you put your mouse pointer over a link with title text then you can see it pop up, likewise with the example image html snippet - useful with image heavy websites. This method is particularly effective when joined with correct linking text and can be used on both internal and external links. Try to keep your primary keywords to around 2-5 and target them specifically, there are many keyword generators and keyword density checkers on the net - the ratio for each of your keywords should be above 5.0%.

As the search engine technology advances webmasters are beginning to speculate whether the search engines are basing the keyword ratio over your entire site, although this isnt feasible for most sites if you run a very specialised site it is of course useful to make sure all your pages are optimized.
