Blogging, Is There A Best Choice Of Blogging Software?
From CNN News feeds to suicide blogs in Japan. If people are remotely interested in a subject there is at lest one blog for it, if not several hundred blogs on the topic.
With blogging being the all the buzz these days many people [who secretly don't know what the heck a "Blog" is] are wondering.
If I wanted to setup my own blog what would be the best choice of blogging software?
Is one blog software better than another?
Well that depends on what you want to achieve with your blog.
I know, I hate those evasive answers also, but really here's what I mean.
If you are interested in blogging for fun or as a creative outlet in which you can express yourself to the virtual world than I recommend using a service such as Blogger.com™ by Google.
Blogger™ is easy to setup and use and not to mention FREE to use. Once you setup your Blogger account you can type your post into Blogger directly or copy and paste it in from another source.
You pick how you want your blog to look from one of the templates and with a push of a button Blogger automatically creates the blog complete with your post. Here is a sample of a free Blogger blog. http://acting123.blogspot.com
Radio UserLand offers free 30 day trial and easy to setup and use.
If you run a business a Blog is the new "Must Have" thing. It wasn't too long ago that a business was cutting edge by having its own website, but today and forward Your Business Needs a Blog!
When choosing blogging software for business purposes there are more features to consider.
For instance if you will be the person setting it up and maintaining it how steep is the learning curve?
As a business-person using the Internet you will want a software that can be optimized for the search engines. An optimized blog can be a great source of free search engine traffic, which of course can mean more prospects or sales to your company.
Will the blogging software automatically ping blog directories and your RSS subscribers to alert them that there is new information posted on your blog?
These features don't really matter for a personal blog but are paramount in choosing a blog for your business.
Here are a few good choices.
1.WordPress. Free, auto pings, you can post to it by email and can be SEO optimized.
2.MovableType. Free, auto pings, you can post to it by email and can be SEO optimized, but with a little steeper learning curve.
3.BlogHarbor. 30 day free trial. Not free but as a full compliment of features needed to build a professional online business presence.
Blogger is another choice but to get the maximum benefit out of your blog you must setup your Blogger blog on your own server. This will accomplish two things,
1.It will grow your site.
2. It will get your pings past any ping directories that block sites from Blogger.com.
